ExxonMobil Foundation funds internships at local nonprofits

Written by Lindsay Tooker

This summer, ExxonMobil Foundation Community Summer Jobs Program connected college students to local nonprofits in need for its annual eight-week internship program.

The program granted nearly $100,000 to 36 nonprofit partners in Harris and Montgomery Counties to hire summer interns, filling needs from fundraising events to programmatic support. In addition to funding these paid internships, the Community Summer Jobs Program provides professional development sessions for the students and coordinates a group service project benefitting one of the nonprofit agencies.

In its nearly 20-year history, the program has sponsored more than 1,200 summer internships at nonprofits across the Greater Houston area.

The ExxonMobil Foundation is the primary philanthropic arm of the Exxon Mobil Corporation in the United States. The Foundation has a strategic focus supporting education with an emphasis on math and science in the United States, promoting women as catalysts for economic development, and ending deaths from malaria.
