Impact100 Houston will award two organizations with grants of $100,000 this year.
Last week they announced the finalists in each of their focus areas:
- Education: SEARCH Homeless Services
- Arts & Culture: Buffalo Soldiers Museum
- Environment: Houston Community Toolbank
- Family: Target Hunger
- Health & Wellness: Santa Maria Hostel
Impact100 empowers women to see themselves as philanthropists and overcome the barriers women have historically faced in this arena. The model is designed for transformational grant-making within local communities, with a minimum grant size of $100,000.
The annual $1,000 donations of Impact100 Houston members are pooled into a grant fund to be given away to nonprofit organizations serving Harris County. The number and size of grants awarded are dependent on the membership, but their goal is to give incremental grants of $100,000 each year. Grants are awarded based on a vote of the Impact100 Houston membership at their annual meeting. Every woman who gives $1,000 or more has one vote.
Awards will be announced at their Annual Awards Ceremony on November 2.
