Eight local organizations received grants totaling $88,000 from TENGA Foundation and its local station, KHOU11.
The TEGNA Foundation is a corporate foundation sponsored by TEGNA Inc. Through its Community Grant Program, TEGNA Foundation serves the greater good of its communities by supporting nonprofit activities where TEGNA does business. Through its other programs, the Foundation invests in the future of the media industry, encourages employee giving, and contributes to a variety of charitable causes.
KHOU has been one of the top-rated CBS affiliates in Texas for over two decades. From broadcasting the first live picture of radar screen during Hurricane Carla in 1961, to becoming the nation’s first digital television station, KHOU-TV has been a leader in local news, information and community involvement for over six decades.
A committee of local station employees helped select the grantees, focusing on community needs like housing, youth programs, employment, and education.
